Galo Hymns Song Lyrics

“Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory,” also known as “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” was composed by Julia Ward Howe in 1861. She wrote the lyrics in November 1861 and they were first published in The Atlantic Monthly in February 1862. The hymn was inspired by the outbreak of the Civil War and was written after Howe and others watched a review of the Army of the Potomac.
